Merry Christmas one & all

Advent candleWolverhampton Orpheus Male Voice Choir & Lady Supporters’ Club wishes you a very Merry Christmas & all of our best wishes for the New Year ahead.

We’re having a festive rest at the moment, but we’re back to work with our first choir practice of 2016 on Wednesday 6th January, 7.30-9.30pm.

If you’re a man (or if you know a man) who likes to sing, please consider our choir over the festive season. You will be welcome to come & give us a try in 2016. Just ask to come along to a choir practice, listen &/or join in. Singing is good for you, your mood, your health & your audience! Please get in touch for more info.

Choir led Wolverhampton’s Civic Carol Service

WOMVC were proud to lead Wolverhampton’s Civic Carol Service 2015. The service began with Once in Royal David’s City.
After the 1st lesson, the choir sang The Advent Hymn & Joy to the World followed by a congregational carol ‘See him lying on a bed of straw.’
After the 2nd lesson, everyone sang ‘O little town of Bethlehem’ & after the 3rd lesson we sang the Christmas version of Kwmbayah & O Holy Night.

After the 4th lesson everyone sang ‘Hark the herald angels sing’, then after the 5th lesson, the choir sang How great thou art & Let there be peace on Earth.
After the Prayers of Intercession, we all sang ‘O come all ye faithful’ to finish the service.
Pre-Civic Carol Service

The Wolverhampton Orpheus Male Voice Choir will be in fine voice at the city’s annual Civic Carol Service next month.

The traditional service, which is open to all, takes place at Darlington Street Methodist Church on Wednesday 9 December, 2015, from 3.30pm and will be led by the Reverend David Lavender. Mince pies and mulled wine will be served afterwards.

Wolverhampton Mayor Councillor Ian Brookfield said: “We’re looking forward to a fantastic afternoon of song in the company of the Wolverhampton Orpheus Male Voice Choir. This fantastic annual event is sure to get everyone into the festive spirit.”

Concert at Highcroft Hall care home

We are looking forward to singing at Highcroft Hall care home (Sanctuary Care) in Bushbury on Saturday 21st November 6.30-8.30pm. The first half of our musical programme will be our more traditional songs and then we’ll get festive in the second half. The entrance price is £3. Refreshments will be available.

Royal British Legion VE70 Charity Concert

Our concert at St. John’s in the Square, Wolverhampton on Saturday 9th May 2015 was to remember VE day 70 years on (#VE70) & to raise money for our chosen charity, the Royal British Legion. The concert featured several talented soloists from our partner, High Arcal School & Organist John Stratton.

St. George’s Day Celebration Concert with Black Country Brass

Black Country Brass BandWe invite you to a concert of traditional & patriotic music to celebrate St. George’s Day (actually April 23rd.) WOMVC will be performing along with Black Country Brass on Saturday 18th April starting at 7.30pm & should end c. 9.45pm. There will be an interval & a prize raffle. Grand Gala Concert Wombourne featuring High Arcal School Advanced Jazz Band

On the evening of Saturday 25th October 2014, we held our Grand Gala Concert at Wombourne Civic Centre. Our special guests were High Arcal School Advanced Jazz Band led by James Roberts. The band was started about 10 years ago. In this time they have enjoyed a lot of success in regional and national competitions & events.
They have won numerous Gold & Platinum awards at the National Concert Band Festival and have been invited to perform in Music for Youth’s National Festival at Adrian Boult Hall at Birmingham Conservatoire.
The band also perform in various concerts in school and may be booked to play at events in the wider community. E.g. they have performed at Brierley Hill Civic Hall.
