Lest We Forget: Concert at St. Mary’s Church, Bushbury, Wolverhampton

On Saturday 20th September we performed at St. Mary’s Parish Church in Bushbury, Wolverhampton. The concert commemorated the ‘brave boys’ of the Old Bushbury Parish who served in World Wars 1 & 2. We were ably supported by five instrumentalists from High Arcal School in Sedgley.

Choir perform at BBC’s WW1 at Home live event at Wolverhampton & Black Country Show

100_1238We were invited by the BBC to perform on Saturday 12th July at their World War 1 at Home live event, which coincided with The Wolverhampton & Black Country Show on the weekend of 12th & 13th July 2014. The venue was West Park in Wolverhampton. The newly renamed show supersedes the popular City Show. We were scheduled to perform at approx. 3.30pm for 20 mins, then at 5.30pm for 30 mins. The BBC WW1 at Home event will be broadcasting live on BBC Radio WM 95.6.

The choir feel very privileged to have been asked to take part in this very special event in Wolverhampton. Selected war time pieces from our concert the previous evening at The Goodyear Pavilion will be sung at West Park.

Just wanted to say a huge thank-you for making the WW1 at Home event such a success in Wolverhampton. Around 11,000 people turned up over the two days and the feedback was really positive. I hope you all enjoyed it.
Thanks again!

St. George’s Day celebrated at Sainsbury’s Wednesfield

Sainsbury's LogoWe performed at Sainsbury’s Wednesfield Superstore (Bentley Bridge) in Wolverhampton on Wednesday 23rd April from 5pm to 7pm.
To celebrate St. George’s Day we created a display of flags, including St. George’s Cross, to show how the Union Flag has evolved.

St George's Flag
We sang around the themes of England and this year’s Centenary of the 1st World War. We spoke
to shoppers to promote the choir, recruit gentlemen singers and supporters. A number of customers said that they were very pleased to see Sainsbury’s celebrating St George’s Day in this way.

On the day £164 was gratefully donated by shoppers. Since we’ve got a community compact with the Royal British Legion, part of this sum will be donated to them.

On behalf of the choir, a big thank you to Store Manager Paul Mitchell, Public Relations Representative Lynn Ryan, the Deputy Store Manager and other store staff for agreeing to host us and supporting this event.

Community Compact agreement signed with Royal British Legion

RBL logo+white borderWe are pleased to announce that on 29th January we signed a new 2 year Community Compact agreement with The Royal British Legion (Staffordshire County region.) During 2014 & 2015 we will raise funds for The Royal British Legion. During the First World War Centenary it is appropriate that we will be supporting a charity that in turn supports those that serve & have served our country in the Armed Forces.
